In a world where everyone is in a rush to get somewhere and do something it becomes a bit of a challenge to make time for God. We often get so caught up in what everyone else around us wants that we forget what He needs.
Yeah I am guilty of this. I have even gotten caught up in my own calling and running with God’s plan that I forgotten who I am actually doing this for. I think its a balance that takes a long time to get right but its a very necessary balance. You have to find that perfect balance between keeping proactive and having time for God.
But sometimes we don’t even have control of how busy things get. I don’t know about you, but I have noticed that everything seems to happen all around the same time. Its quiet for a while but then boom! everything just comes and happens around you all at once and that can be a bit overwhelming.
So in those crazy hectic moments how do you make time for God?
Well I have come to the understanding that God wants to be a part of your everyday life, so make Him part of your everyday life. That way you don’t necessarily miss time with Him, because He will be in every minute of your day. Now I don’t by any means have this down, sometimes I do forget to bring God into my everyday mundane life, but its a process.
Now this does not mean you must now neglect having alone time with God. Your quiet time with Him is so important and you should definitely make space for that time with God.
It’s in those moments alone wit God that we actually get that closeness that we desire from God but when we are to busy to get close to God then our heart and message for our calling get lost in the actual building of our ministry.
Sometimes it does get hectic and we battle to wake early in the mornings or stay up a little later to spend that alone time with God, it is a real challenge and it is a challenge for everyone. I often find myself in these weird phases where I am just constantly reading the word and then for a while I don’t even look at my Bible. But for reals though, am I bad for being like that?
I ask myself this question all the time. I still don’t have a real answer but what I have come to is that its not a bad thing, nor is it a good thing. It’s just something that happens.See the only way you’re going to know and see the character of God is by knowing His word. If we continuously pray for things that aren’t happening when our Bibles are closed, then really what are we doing?
If we don’t know who we are praying to then how can we know if He is answering us or not? How can we know what He is saying when we don’t know who He is and how He works? So making time for the One who is actually providing for you, the One you are praying to and the One you’re actually living for makes sense, in fact it is necessary.
As a matter of fact He spends all His time looking out for us, so why do we make such a big deal about spending a fraction of our day talking to Him? In a world where everything is constantly crazy, slow it down and spend some quality time with your Father.
